Seaglass Studs with Super Sparkle.
These little beauties are made using 925 sterling silver studs which have super sparkly CZ (Cubic Zirconia) stones in the front. Two vaguely matching but unique pieces of seaglass have been carefully drilled and attached to the studs using sterling silver jump-rings.
Each pair varies of course but on average the drop below the stud fitting is about 1 to 1¼ inches (25 to 30mm). Because the pieces of glass are carefully selected they are very light, weighing almost always less than 3g per earring.
Most of my seaglass comes from around Whitby or Seaham, one of the UK’s most popular locations for beachcombers looking for glass. I do have pieces in my collection though, from all over the UK, from Shetland in the north to the Isle of Wight in the south, St Kilda way out west to Lowestoft in the east. I’ve never visited a beach that I didn’t scour for seaglass!
Seaglass comes from many sources.
Bottles, windows and even shipwrecks provide seaglass. It can take up to 200 years for the ocean to create the frosted and weathered appearance which makes it so unique. Whilst not a gemstone as such, seaglass is regarded as a symbol of healing and renewal.
These earrings come in a black linen-mix gift bag with a complementary polishing cloth. Each available pair has a name shown on the photo. If you wish to purchase a specific pair of studs, please let me know when you place an order. If not, you’ll receive a pair chosen by me.
