These stunning earrings are made from semi-precious stones, an almost-identical pair of hand-cast resin ammonites and sterling silver. The ammonites are finished with sterling silver tassels which emulate the tentacles of the original creature. These earrings can be worn as a pair or as statement individual pieces. The drop below the earwire, to the base of the tassel, is 3¼ inches (8½ cm). Resin is beautifully light and this pair of eye-catching earrings weigh just 8.53g between them (average 4.27g each).
The original ammonites were found by myself when fossil hunting at Runswick Bay, just north of Whitby. This lovely town was my home for around 10 years. Ammonites, belemnites, gryphaea and other fossils are commonly found on this stretch of coastline. The silvery blue and silver ammonites are complemented by non-matching faceted iolite beads.
Iolite promotes feelings of peace, calm and tranquility. It is said to heal and align the body, mind and spirit. It is known as a vision stone, sometimes called “the Viking’s compass” and carries the spirit of journey, dreams, intuition, exploration and illumination. It can help you to trust the important messages from your intuition (gut feelings) rather than second-guess them. Iolite can instil inner strength and courage, providing direction and guidance, to give you with a better understanding of your life path.
These earrings come in a gift box with the descriptive enclosure photographed which tells the new owner of this unique jewellery all about its qualities. A complementary polishing cloth is also included.
