The name lapis lazuli comes from the Latin word “lapis” meaning “stone,” and the Persian word “lazhuward” which means “blue.” It has a long history of being prized as a gemstone by the pharaohs of ancient Egypt and the golden sarcophagus of King Tutankhamen was richly inlaid with this gemstone.

It is an excellent metaphysical stone, inspiring and mentally balancing, the deep blue easing the mind and relaxing it allowing for deeper mental states which enable the subconscious to flow.
