About Us

I was born on the Isle of Lewis with my childhood home, on the small island of Great Bernera, just metres from the shore. Since then, I’ve lived in various watery locations including the Isle of Mull, Whitby, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, on a steam ship in Preston Dock and on a canal boat on the Grand Union Canal in London. Even a brief stint in Derbyshire – the UK’s most landlocked county – included a stream running through my garden.

I started making jewellery at the age of eight, encouraged by my creative parents, and generously purchased by trade outlets whom were buying their handmade pottery. I like to think I’ve made some progress since then, now focusing on sterling silver, resin and beautiful gemstones. I love the healing qualities of crystals and, despite being colour blind, am motivated by colours as well as design. My extensive collection of semiprecious beads has been mainly acquired from estate gems, destash collections and carefully selected vendors.

I was first mesmerised by resin in the ‘70s, reading a craft book over and over again, being astounded by the possibilities. It took 40 years for me to pluck up the courage to try it myself and I was hooked. Making most of my own moulds, I work with non-toxic crystal-clear resin to preserve pieces or replicate natural items in unusual and inspiring colours. The alchemy of working with resin is very satisfying although you never quite know what you’re going to get until the piece is actually demoulded.

I am inspired by my surroundings and am happiest when beachcombing, with a dog for company, collecting treasure that Mother Nature has generously provided for those who are prepared to look for it. You’ll see the strong influence of fossils, urchins, shells, skulls and bones as well as actual stones, pebbles and seaglass in my work. I hope you enjoy wearing and benefiting from the pieces as much as I love making them.
